Be sure to come back though. For those of you staying with us, what we have here is a highly stylised, romantic and volatile music video for EP track ‘U’. According to the band the video “is about wanting someone who wants something else. It’s a group of friends who each feel something strongly for one another, but it never gets mutual. It ends up in deep frustration and a fear of losing someone important forever. It’s melancholic but still very hopeful.” That last phrase, is also how one could describe Slowes' musical approach; one that drifts from dreamy synths of ‘U’, to the experimental ‘Times’, to the dance-inducing pop melodies throughout ‘Anymore’. Jack and Anders clearly have an aptitude for a variety of genres, but ‘U’ is a clear standout with its Yumi Zouma-style arrangement, lyrical prowess, catchy chorus and A Midsummer Night’s Dream storyline. - HT
